Sadako Sasaki was two years old when in the early hours of August 1945 “little boy” struck Hiroshima. Miraculously she was not injured, but ten years later she developed leukaemia.
According to an old Japanese legend, a crane lives to a thousand years and they who fold 1000 cranes will have a wish come thrue. Sadako folded more than 1000 paper cranes hereby becoming a symbol of hope and peace all over the world.
Her story was the inspiration of the series “Sadako”.
